Naper Settlement, founded in 1969, is a 12-acre outdoor history museum accredited by the American Alliance of Museums that houses thirty historical structures and buildings from the Naperville, Illinois, area. Many buildings were relocated from their original locations and refurbished in style appropriate for the time periods spanning from 1831, when Naperville was founded, to the early twentieth century.
Visitors can participate in hands-on activities and tours led by museum educators dressed in period attire. Caroline Martin Mitchell left the land for the Settlement to the City of Naperville in 1936.
